We conducted an English-training camp in Ukraine back in 2004 and 2005. Foreigners came to Ukraine to help in English Training camps. The camps have been ongoing yearly for seven years now.

It’s an enriching experience for both of them and for the students as well.

Bill is also drawn to Ukraine because meeting the people, students, and learning about their culture and their history, he just fell in love with Ukraine.

Pursuing Meaningful Life Episode 077 – The Story of Our Engagement

My wife Stephanie and I recently celebrated our 5th year wedding anniversary. Steph and I met in 1992 in a Bible Study at K-State. 13 years later, I proposed to her.

I had to go explore geographically, spiritually, and emotionally before I realized what I needed.

Steph visited me in Ukraine as a buddy. She came during the revolution. It was a revolution in Ukraine, but it was also a revolution in my heart. After 13 years. I realized we were a good match.

I realized how much I loved her, and recognized how much she loved me.

So I snuck back to the US and worked with her roommates, boss, and friends to plan the engagement.

She was scheduled to have lunch with her boss but, instead I showed up with roses and with a note from her boss asking her to take the week off.

That night, we drove by Webber Hall at K-State, where we first met in room 121. I told her “Let’s pop in to Webber Hall. There’s some kind of conference going on.”

That’s where I went down on one knee and I proposed to her. I read her a little poem and I proposed. She said “Yes.” Then we went upstairs to a gourmet dinner that her friends have set up. Then, we had our engagement dinner there. Basically, I turned her world upside down in a matter of a few hours.

I went back to Ukraine to finish up and moved back to the US and we got married soon after.

For me, a life of richness and fullness has got to include interacting with people from different cultures. I feel that God has given me a desire to love people and to engage with these people who are from different cultures and countries. I’ve lived in Ukraine and England and have travelled to about 31 different countries. So I know what it’s like to be a stranger in a foreign land.

There’s a lot of value to crossing cultures. Having friends from different cultures will add a dimension to your life that you didn’t know is possible. Wherever you may be, reach out to people living in your country that are not from there. It’ll be a life-transforming experience for you and for them as well.

I’m excited to lauch a new product on the 1st of September. It’s called the Online Career Coach. I asked feedback from folks at Free Agent Academy regarding this product.

Feedback were mixed. Some folks thought the product was great while other folks thought that the product wasn’t really good. So I’m feeling excited and nervous at the same time.

I want to be more focused on really serving people. I really want to reach out to folks, folks who want to make a better life for themselves but who are still in the process of figuring out how. I envision this new product to doing exactly that.

For instance, my friend Peter from Ukraine is one of the coolest persons I’ve met. He just loves people for who they are. He was part of me and my wife’s story. He may have less possessions compared to someone living here in the US, but he is rich in his love for life and in his love for people. He loves people genuinely for who they are. And he lives his life to the fullest.

Peter is one of these long-term, life-time friends, I wouldn’t trade for anything.

But I heard a passage about the prophet Elijah and his miracles are regular, day-to-day life things like changing bitter soup to good-tasting soup.

I think that God does care about the details of our lives. I don’t think he tries to orchestrate or manipulate the things that we’re doing.

I think he cares about our lives and he’s equipping us to live the way he wants us to live.
